Ryan Stancil & Baxter Miller – A Return to RISINGNC

ON THE WATER: A panel of commercial and recreational fishermen along with Marine Biologists to discuss changes in what’s running along our shore and sounds

ON THE LAND: A presentation from Dr. Emily Bernhardt on Ghost Forests of Coastal NC

WHEN THE WATER MEETS THE LAND: A panel discussion from Sea Grant and NC State University on sunny day flooding, king tides, and other data.

FLOODING AT HOME: Discussion of the importance of knowing your personal risks and vulnerability, Dr. Rob Young, The Center for Developed Shorelines at Western Carolina University.

Regional Response to the Changes:

INFRASTRUCTURE – POWER LINES, ROADS, DRAINAGE DOWN EAST: Representatives from NC DOT, NC Sentinel Sites Military Liaison and local power companies will discuss resilience plans Down East.

PERSONAL RISK MITIGATION OPTIONS – RESOURCES FOR HOUSE RAISING, INSURANCE: Learn more about flood insurance processes, FEMA resources and private property and casualty insurance options.

COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: Community members speak while agency leaders listen to the challenges and needs of Down East.
