Art & Photography Camp Week

Teaching photography to young students helps them exercise their creative muscles and encourages exploration. It builds valuable visual and critical thinking skills for later in life.

 

Monday 9am-12pm | “See My World”

Rising 1, 2, 3 graders, free w/ limited spaces, priority for members. Snacks provided.

Children are impressionable, especially when they are still young.  With a little encouragement, they can thrive in a variety of skills.

Campers will learn the basics of “point and shoot” photography through a variety of hands-on projects. From camera familiarization games to scavenger hunt photo shoots, your students will discover a new way to see their world.

Tuesday 9am-12pm | “Let’s Click It”

Rising 4, 5 graders, free w/ limited spaces, priority for members  

Photography develops students’ learning across the curriculum and enables them to build an understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them.

Campers will learn basic photography elements and practice applying them to photos taken by both others and themselves. After lunch, campers will build personal pinhole cameras and discover the fundamentals of what a camera is and how it works!

Wed-Thurs 9am-12pm | “Picture This”

Rising 6, 7, 8 graders

*Cameras needed for this camp. Cell phone cameras will work fine! Snacks provided both days. Fees to cover materials: $25 members, $35 for non-members (includes student membership) SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!

Photography teaches students to appreciate their environment and nature while heightening their awareness of what is happening around them in a creative and fulfilling way.

Day 1: Campers will learn basic photography elements and composition techniques that they will implement by taking their own photographs. Students will create a portfolio for their photos while understanding how to properly handle and preserve them. 

Day 2: Campers will transform one of their own photographs from Day 1 into a canvas painting. Students will use their photographic knowledge of color, line, shape, texture, and space to transform a sketch into a painting to treasure.

Friday Full day with lunch | “Get Focused”

Adults, all levels welcome

Photography can have a positive effect on your well-being, boosting self-esteem, confidence, and memory. It improves focus and calms the mind from everyday hustle and bustle.

Participants will explore basic photography elements and composition methods that will immediately improve their picture-taking skills! Techniques will be practiced, critiqued, and improved throughout the workshop. From photographing specific subjects to exploring for inspiration, participants will leave with improved confidence behind their lens.
