In honor of the Black Mountain Fire Department and all the communities affected by Helene, our "Community Heroes" event will celebrate mountain music with these local bluegrass bands. Music begins at 4pm (no purchase necessary).
Mac McElroy & South Point Band
Mac McRoy and The South Point Band play traditional Bluegrass and gospel. Mac has been playing in and around Bluegrass music for over 30 years and is known for his song writing and high lonesome sound.
McRoy spent his career singing bluegrass and country music on radio and TV. He and his band now perform at festivals, church specials, and on stage. He enjoys spreading the Gospel and keeping the music genre traditional.
The South Point band is Mac’s wife Mary McRoy on vocals. Steven Clark on upright bass and baritone vocals. Mitch Mitchell plays banjo, and is known for his Scruggs style picking.
Asher Brinson Band
This 16-year-old, left-handed picker, singer and songwriter from Newport, North Carolina has been around music his entire life. His grandaddy was in a band and his dad sings and plays guitar, too. Family functions always meant music and it usually meant someone was pushing a guitar into Asher’s hands. He never seemed too interested until he went to his first Doc at 100 show at a Billy Strings Concert in 2023. Once Asher heard Billy Strings play, he was all in on bluegrass. Read More…
