The Occasional Dingbat is a collection of essays and photographs by one who is from “off” and who has moved to Downeast North Carolina to stay. Such a person is categorized by the natives as a Dingbat. The term is applied with affection... sometimes. Sometimes not. The essays cover a range of topics from local phenomena to life in general, but share the common thread of having been inspired while residing here in Otway. The photographs all were made locally and were included, according to the author, to give polite people something to comment upon in case the essays happen to leave them at a loss for words.
