CSWM boat building project at
Best of Our State

"Our State's " Best of North Carolina's winter event at the Grove Park
Inn
has become an important part of the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum's
programming calendar. This year, museum volunteers/boat builders Jimmy
Amspacher, Bill Lathan and Jim Briley, shared their love for wooden boat
building by building a flat-bottom Core Sound skiff during the two-day
event. The snapshots here follow their progress. Special thanks to
John Hodge for these photos.

A silent auction was held and Mr. Gary Rayle of Hickory became the owner
of this historic (first boat ever built at the Grove Park) vessel.

A special thanks to Amy Wood, the staff at the Grove Park and Our State
magazine for allowing the CSWM to be part of the "Best of Our State"
program.
